endangered species

You will be happy to know that May 18th will be known as “Endangered Species Day” nationally.  I think it is a great gesture to show support, but only time will tell to see if it acutally works.

Because of all the endangering of wild life their are certain people that are giving grants to help protect and preserve our environment as well as our endangered species.

Secretary of Interior Dirk Kempthorne announced more than $67 million in grants to 27 states to support conservation planning and acquisition of vital habitat for threatened and endangered fish, wildlife, and plants. The grants, authorized by Section 6 of the Endangered Species Act, enable States to work with private landowners, conservation groups and other agencies to initiate conservation planning efforts, and protect habitat to support the conservation of threatened and endangered species.

I think this is fantastic.  We need more individuals and foundations to give more to encourage others to join in.

I was discussing with someone that polar bears are becoming an endangered species, so I decided to look up and it is true.  Polar bears might be becoming extinct because of global warming.  The ice is thinning near the North Pole and the Polar bears need that ice to get back up on land after they get done hunting.  They will drown if they cannot get upon land.  The ice is thinning and even disappearing all together due to the increase in temperatures.  This is why we need to do all that we can to preserve our environment.

According to endangeredspecie.com there are several reasons why some would say species are becoming endangered.  Some would say it is not done by a certain species, but mostly dont by the human race.  The human race destroys much of the habitat which kills their environment and pollutes the air and water in which they live.  This problem cannot stop until the human race begins to protect and preserve our environment.

Natural changes tend to occur at a gradual pace, usually causing only a slight impact on individual species. However, when changes occur at a fast pace, there is little or no time for individual species to react and adjust to new circumstances. This can create disastrous results, and for this reason, rapid habitat loss is the primary cause of species endangerment.

This article just states that humans are the main cause of not only endangered species but endangering all wild life in general.  Until we preserve our natural environment animals and plants will continue to diminish.

There were no educational or professional credentials about the author that I could find, however, there was a comment about the author saying I’m an Iranian looking at Iran as a foriegner.  I thought that was a very strong statement.  The blogroll that the author claims to read on a regular basis seems to be very versatile on what he reads.  I think the sources just state the facts on what he has found to be true.  I think the blogroll is very fair and balanced.

The blogroll does have some advertising on it.  I think the advertising is a little bias and appeals more to the liberals then the conservatives.  Some of the post on the blog were very eye-opening to them as well as to me.  I think they are well written and they are not trying to make you feel stupid they are just stating some facts that open your eyes to a lot of things.  I feel that this blog has really helped me in knowing more about this issue.
